Following the success Of the Long Walk for Lungs in 2017, Bill Van Nierop attended the Thoracic Society’s National Conference, held in Adelaide in March to present the research award to the successful PHD Graduate.
This Lung Foundation Australia/Bill Van Nierop Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis PhD research grant, named in recognition of Bill’s efforts and with the support of Lung Foundation, was awarded to Tylah Miles from the University of Western Australia.
Bill presented the award to Tylah’s Supervisor, Dr Cecilla Prele, in Tylah’s absence.
This project was Co-funded with the University of Western Australia, and funds the research project into Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis for 3 years.
Bill is hopeful that this years funds will provide for additional research grants for research into other lung diseases.
